Karl Curtis joined RSI as the agency director in May 2021. Prior to his arrival, Karl worked in a for over 20 years in a variety of administrative and management positions including work for the Brain Injury Alliance of Wisconsin and the Verona Area Chamber of Commerce. In his spare time Karl enjoys time with family, golf, and creative writing, and he has both published a mystery novel and written a musical that was produced in Verona.

After 20 years with Responsive Solutions Inc., Don LaFave retired in August 2025. Current and former co-workers and clients came to the RSI Safehouse for an afternoon to celebrate with Don and wish him many blessings in retirement. Unfortunately, Don passed away on Friday, March 20th, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. “His sincere desire to help and his capacity to find light in trying circumstances left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered the mere sound of a client's voice, even in his final days, would bring a wide smile to his face. Don leaves behind a significant legacy of compassion and innovation and will be deeply missed.” In honor of his memory of, RSI has decided to dedicate a portion of our upcoming garden project to Don.

Hello, my name is Todd Hafele the A&M Coordinator for RSI. I am excited to be able to provide services that increase safety and independence for individuals with developmental / intellectual disabilities in their home. I enjoy being the A&M Coordinator because it allows me to be creative and my favorite projects are the ones that you can’t buy in the store. In my spare time I do pottery and enjoy playing card games with my family.

Greetings, this is Patrick and I am proud to be a member of this team! My role as Crisis Response Coordinator gives me the opportunity to meet people from all across Dane County and to problem solve when times get tough. The work of meeting people in a crisis or helping to prevent one in their lives is a job I love in all seasons. When I am not working I find joy in music, road trips to interesting places, and adventures of all sorts with my family.

I have worked in many roles throughout my career, but none more rewarding and fun than my work in social healthcare. I joined RSI to support their goals for better, person-centered crisis prevention and crisis care. With experience in systems navigation, advocacy, ABA therapy, and daily living skills coaching, I am ready to assist you and your team!

I began with RSI in July 2024 and previously worked in youth crisis stabilization, treatment court case management and DHS-Quality Assurance. And studied Criminal Justice at Purdue and Early Childhood Education at Rasmussen University. I bring a unique perspective on systems navigation and a high stand for high-centered care. I also hold a strong commitment to behavioral health and advocacy. Working for RSI has been rewarding since the day joined the team. I have had the privilege to meet many individuals and families along the way. When I am not working, I spend my time with my fiancé and children in the Madison area or the Wisconsin Dells countryside. I also take much pride in my garden and enjoy making people smile with my random unicorn humor.
